Julie Anne started training in CrossFit in 2013 and since then she has been hooked on the lifestyle. CrossFit has become a healthy obsession.
Julie Anne suffered from a severe depression from the loss of her son, Landon. She found CrossFit was a method of healing. As it was often a struggle to make it to class, her determination and the help of her friends and fiancee, Mat gave her the extra push to continue.
Julie Anne eventually motivated her fiancee to start CrossFit training and he instantly fell in love with the sport. Since then they train together on a daily basis and push each other to reach their individual fitness goals.
Julie Anne’s objective is to share the positive impact of the CrossFit lifestyle with her community of Kanehsatake. She believes the use of exercise will not only help you physically but mentally.
As a young indigenous entrepreneur, with the support of her fiancee and family, Julie Anne took the risk and started her first business at the age of 31. She realized there was a lack of accessibility to fitness in her community and created this facility to fulfill this need. Julie Anne is creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for surrounding municipalities.
Julie Anne is a certified massotherapist and has a DEC in Early Childhood Education. She previously worked as a special needs technician at her local elementary school.
As an entrepreneur, Julie Anne hopes to inspire the youth of Kanehsatake to follow their dreams and stay committed to their objectives.
Kanehsatake CrossFit opened March 10th, 2017 and is open six days a week.
